| Thallus crustose, continuous or becoming rimose, areolate and rugulose with age, usually white, rarely pale grey, to 4 cm wide, 0.1–0.3 mm thick. Areolae angular or irregular, 0.4–1.0 mm wide, plane and smooth to weakly convex, lacking isidia and soredia. Prothallus not apparent. Apothecia common, scattered, sessile, constricted at the base, 0.1–0.8 (–2.0) mm wide; disc plane or ±undulate, ±round, glossy black, epruinose; thalline exciple prominent, persistent, smooth; proper exciple colourless, 100–200 µm thick. Epihymenium dark violet-brown. Hymenium pale violet to violet-brown, 50–60 µm thick. Hypothecium orange-brown to yellow-brown, 75–100 µm thick. Ascospores simple, ellipsoidal, thick-walled, 9–13 × 5.0–7.5 µm. Conidia filiform, straight, 18–20 × c. 1 µm. CHEMISTRY: Cortex K+ yellow, C–, KC–, P– or P+ pale yellow; medulla K–, C–, KC+ pink, P–, UV+ blue-white; containing colensoic acid (major), norcolensoic acid (major), 4-O-methylphysodic acid (minor), physodic acid (submajor). |

| A rare species in south-eastern Qld and north-eastern N.S.W.; grows on bark and wood in coastal and hinterland forests. Also in Thailand. | ||
